Description
A perfect class for traveller's looking to experience one of the arts of Bali and make your own piece of jewelry. In this 2 hours basics class, learn the very basics of metalsmithing and make your very own piece of silver jewelry using traditional techniques. This is a great experiential class and an excellent introduction to making silver jewelry for children and adults (age 7+). You will work with wire or sheet to design and make your own piece of jewelry.
This class runs from 9:00-11:00 or 13:30 - 15:30 (special times available upon request)
Class covers beginning techniques in
- Tools
- Sawing
- Stamping and hammering
- Soldering
- Sanding and polishing
- Working with silver
- Safety
Class sizes are small, with no more than 6 students at a time to allow one-on-one time with the tutors.
With the techniques you are shown, you will be able to make 1 piece of jewelry from silver to take home with you.
What you need to bring to this class
If you have an idea or inspiration for a piece of jewelry to make, you are welcome to bring it.
Everything else that you need will be provided.
General Information
All general materials are included in the cost of the class, including 6 grams of silver.
Extra silver will be charged based on market value. The classes are taught by expert silversmiths from Indonesia who have years of professional experience in jewelry making. There is a class assistant to help who is knowledgeable about techniques and can translate any questions you might have. The teachers are friendly, knowledgeable and very happy to help.
